I. INTRODUCTION
This course is the first part of three consecutive courses which enable NEU students to prepare for the IELTS test. It is designed for first year students at National Economics University, whose level of English is pre-intermediate. The course will take 10 weeks with 2 periods each week.
II. GOALS
The course aims at:
Equip students with knowledge to structure and organize an IELTS writing task 1 report, summarize important trends in statistics, analyze data, diagrams, processes and maps.
Enable students to brainstorm the ideas and vocabulary needed for writing task 1 quickly
Encourage students to write in good fluency and accuracy under pressure of time
Enrich students’ knowledge about grammar, vocabulary, writing and reading to reach intermediate level in English.
III. OUTCOMES
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
Apply techniques to describe graphs, maps, pie charts effectively.
Write different types of writing tasks 1 with fluency and accuracy
Master knowledge in grammar, vocabulary, writing and reading
