Welcome to Writing Skills 1 course for BE majored freshmen!
Schedule: Monday period 3-4
Classroom: A2 202
In the first part of the course, students will learn to understand and write simple sentences, compound sentences and complex sentences and know how to use conjunctions and transition words. They will be asked to write small, free topic paragraphs, in which they can apply the knowledge of writing different types of sentences, avoid learned errors, and use correct punctuations. This part also provides students with homework tasks in sentence rewriting, sentence building, and vocabulary to enrich their vocabulary, strengthen their grammar and structures so that they can improve their ability of writing sentences, which is the base for producing higher level types of writing.
In the second part of the course, students apply the skills learned to write some types of text useful in life and work, such as description of people, places, objects, summary, informal letters, formal letters, and articles.
In the third part of the course, students learn about the writing process, the structure of a paragraph as well as how to write parts of a paragraph.
By the end of the course, students are expected to achieve pre-intermediate level in their writing skill and write some kinds of text of APTIS writing task 1 tests (writing
